Surgery is only a tool that you need to learn how to successfully manage, for lifelong health and happiness. To ensure long-term health and weight loss success, you need to create a supportive care team.
Weight Loss Surgery is not a guarantee for long-term weight loss and health. Having weight loss surgery is not a quick fix and does not reduce Depression, Disordered Eating Behaviours, Negative Body Image or Mental Health Issues for the long-term.
By looking at your entire life and who you are including all your presenting issues and patterns, that have caused negative cycles, you can obtain better understanding, treatment and management for lifelong change.
Fit Minds & Bodies Clinic offers a unique INTEGRATED Neuro-Bio-Psycho-Social approach that can help you develop a HEALTHY MIND and BODY to improve your long-term psychological, emotional and physical health.
Fit Minds & Bodies Clinic help you to develop new skills and tools which empower you to create a life you want to live – happy, purposeful, fulfilled and healthy – to compliment your weight loss surgery.
Do any of the following apply to you?
Did you tick 4 or more boxes?
If so, we recommend an evaluation, and counselling for your long-term Weight Loss Surgery success.
It is highly recommended that you have a Psychological Evaluation, and ongoing counselling, to determine what factors in your life will:
- Continue to sabotage you,
- Support you,
- Move you towards health and success, and
- Need to change for lifelong health.

Weight Loss Surgery Evaluations
At Fit Minds & Bodies Clinic we offer:
- The highest standard for both Pre-Surgery and Post-Surgery Evaluations,
- Questionnaires to help provide as much information about your genetic, medical and psychological history as well as your present situation;
- Reports to your medical and allied health team, and
- You with a report and resources to help you in the short and long-term.
You will be asked to provide information about:
- your current lifestyle patterns;
- your history with weight, food and dieting, and
- family and genetic history.
You will also be asked to fill in some questionnaires. All of the information is compiled and will help the Psychologist to evaluate your strengths and areas where you may need extra support and information, before and after Surgery. This is then discussed during the Psychological Consultation.
There is a pre- and post-Surgery Consultation. You will discuss with the Psychologist:
- the questionnaire results;
- your reasons for choosing Surgery;
- your expectations regarding the Surgery and outcomes, and
- your goals after Surgery.
As you go through the discussion process, some topics may be emotionally sensitive and it is important for you to be as open and honest about these topics, as possible.
At the post-Surgery Consultation, you will discuss any problems or difficulties you have encountered with the Surgery or anything in your life. You will begin to discuss new behavioural and psychological patterns to improve your success.
Undertaking a Psychological Evaluation can cause anxiety for some. If you are unsure about the process or worried that you will not ‘pass’ the Evaluation then please read the FAQs to help you understand the process better.
