Need for Results Fast – The Reason You Fail Part 1

Need for Results Fast – The Reason You Fail Part 1

The world has become fast-paced and most people now expect things to happen quickly and do not want to wait. This is especially true if you want to lose weight, improve your health or lifestyle.

There seems to be this intense need for results fast and if you don’t get the results that you expect within the timeframe, you give up.

The need for results fast has been driven by three (3) major factors:

  1. Human’s attention span very low;
  2. Impulse and reward increasing, and
  3. Marketing messages.

Reasons You Fail . . .

Reason #1: Attention Span – Sorry, What Were You Saying?

The reality is that Humans now have an attention span less than that of a Goldfish!

Oh Yeah! How appalling is this?

Here are the facts:

  • A Goldfish has an attention span of 9 seconds;
  • In 2013 the Human attention span was 8 seconds, and
  • In 2002 the Human attention span was 12 seconds.

What does this all mean?

It means that you struggle to maintain focus on a task unless you find it rewarding, pleasurable or interesting.

Research shows a direct link between attention spans and the increase in device and screen usage.

Devices and screens keep you constantly stimulated and you expect to obtain what you want to see quickly, without waiting.

If you have to wait, or something isn’t interesting, within seconds, you move your attention to something else.

This has a direct association with the next cause for your failure.

Reason #2: Impulse and Reward – I Can’t Help Myself

Instant reward and weight gain, why do I binge eat, bingeing and instant results, instant results sabotage disordered eating

In a world where you have constant ‘stimulation’ all around you and rarely are you ‘unplugged’ from devices, you have trained your brain to be in a constant state of engagement.

Therefore, you need to find instant satisfaction, results, reward or pleasure in something or you lose interest.

If something takes time, effort and energy or is not overly rewarding or interesting – then you tend to move on or give up!

Does this sound like you when you’re on a diet, or attempting a change to your health and lifestyle?

It should!

When you don’t get your ‘need for results’ satisfied instantly, fast or consistently, you give up.

As soon as you find something that is not fulfilling your needs of impulse and reward, you get bored, you lose interest and you stop.

You would rather have something that is more pleasurable and rewarding – like the food you feel you deserve or have been deprived of.

You don’t like yourself for doing this but neither can you stop yourself from repeating the cycle.

Reason #3: Marketing Messages – BS You Have Subscribed To

Weight loss industries sabotage your health, diet companies market to your vulnerabilities, marketing for disordered eating,

Without knowing it, you have unconsciously subscribed to the very clever marketing of industries that make money off your needs, desires, vulnerabilities and insecurities.

I am talking about the Diet, Weight Loss and Fitness Industries.

You have been sold BS marketing messages as real solutions to your problems.

This is a wolf in sheep’s clothing method.

They pull you in by offering you the ‘ideal outcome’, you want, and you see it as a fix to everything you perceive wrong about you, your body and your life.

They are offering a false promise in only 8 minutes, 5 days or 12 weeks.

You have been conditioned to think that you can really get results fast and in a short time.

Each and every time you start a new diet, exercise or health plan, consciously or unconsciously, you expect your need for results fast to consistently happen.

THIS IS NOT REALITY! This is not how true change works.

Stop being a victim . . .

Get honest with yourself and realise that improving your eating, health and lifestyle is not instant.

You keep repeating the negative cycles.

Take responsibility!

Your low attention span makes you prefer instant results, reward and satisfaction over real solutions!

If you really want to create lasting change with your relationship with food, yourself and your body you need to do things differently; you need to break the cycles.

You need to create the mindsets and behaviours for successful sustainability.
